People don't give cranberries the time of day unless they're sweetened and/or are trying to cure a urinary tract infection.  If you're in functional foods, you might consider eating them without the sugar. I get it, cranberries are bitter but this dehydration method might just change your mind.

It's relatively common knowledge that cranberries have medicinal powers (hence, bringing up urinary tract infections). But it's not ideal for your health to to eat cranberries that have been processed with sugar and oil. Let nature be your candy this fall and make it yourself. 

Dried Unsweetened Cranberries

    Ingredients

  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 2 quarts water
milk, sweet, muesli

  • Step 1

    Sort through cranberries to remove stems and leaves.

  • Step 2

    Bring water to a boil, add cranberries and turn off the heat. Let sit for 3-5 minutes in the hot water until the skins begin to pop.

  • Step 3

    Preheat oven to 200°F and arrange drained cranberries on a baking sheet.

  • Step 4

    Bake for 4 hours, adding more time if the cranberries aren't completely dry after the 4 hours are up.

    Store in an airtight container up to 1 month for optimal freshness.
